The Institute of Applied Physics invites applicants at all professional development stages for junior (tenure-track) and senior (tenured) faculty positions in the broadly defined fields encapsulated by electrical / electronic engineering and applied science. Individuals who have achieved outstanding technical achievements in an industrial career path are also encouraged to apply.

The institute is especially interested, but not limited, in faculty candidates investigating (i) electron devices and circuits (including forward-looking devices, their implementation in VLSI design and system architecture), (ii) devices and systems for classical and quantum computing, information processing and sensing, (iii) energy conversion, harvesting, and storage, and (iv) RF, THz, electromagnetics and 5G/6G communications, (v) ML/AI intersection with physical research.

The institute encourages women and underrepresented minority candidates to apply.

Priority, however, will be given to the overall excellence score comprising originality and future promise of the candidate’s research proposal over any specific area of specialization, as assessed by the Institute’s screening committee.

Successful candidates will be expected to establish and sustain an outstanding research program, supervise graduate students, and must have excellent ability to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Successful candidates will have a relevant doctorate or equivalent experience and an outstanding record of achievement and impactful research (in academic, industry and/or at national laboratories).
