Who we are

The Department of Applied Physics was founded in the late 1960's, as part of the School for Applied Sciences. In an organizational change initiated in 2003, the Applied Physics Department was incorporated into the Rachel and Selim Benin School of Engineering and Computer Science. The department resides in the Bergman building on the eastern edge of the Edmund J. Safra Campus at Givat Ram. Since its founding, the department has cumulatively graduated ~100 Ph.D. degree bearers and many hundreds of M.Sc. degree bearers. They may be found in leading positions in both academia and industry, in Israel and abroad. If you are an APH alumnus, please register with us on the ‘Alumni’ tab.

The mission of the Applied Physics Department is to acquire, generate, and disseminate knowledge at the frontier of physics research and to harness it to the task of advancing applied science and technology. In particular, the Applied Physics Department is engaged in the high-tech relevant fields of nanotechnology, optoelectronics, microelectronics, and quantum technologies.
